To speak truth, we seek truth.

Boris Johnson has claimed that the U.K. can send the CoronaVirus packing in twelve weeks.

Boris Johnson has today claimed that the U.K. can send the CoronaVirus packing in twelve weeks. Yet new legislation that could be passed will give the government two years of the new ‘emergency powers’ to tackle the effects of the virus.

The legislation gives police the power to detain anyone suspected of having the virus as well as enhancing other Government powers in the area of border closure, schools, the NHS, local councils, the courts, the police, funerals and social care.

Johnson has said;

‘I’m very confident we can get this thing done’

Very reminiscent of Brexit so that shouldn’t fill anyone with confidence.

The legislation was received in the House of Commons today and should be ratified by the end of the week.

ITV’s political editor, Robert Peston poignantly expresses;

‘There has never been a law in my lifetime that so encroached on our civil liberties and basic rights as the CoronaVirus Bill’

If the Bill is passed into law and the CoronaVirus becomes contained and life can return to what is recognised as normality, will Johnson easily give up these powers seeing as they will be rendered unnecessary?
